As tempting as it can be to head out for your family photography session, my favourite thing about in-home sessions is that everyone easily settles into being themselves. Kids get excited to show me their amazing tricks and their favourite things. Dad can potter around with a beer if he feels like a little break from those crazy kids. Mum can quickly get changed if the dog slob gets out of control all over her photo shoot dress.
I love that we just aren't in a rush.
Snacks on the back step are a cute little break and the kids can pick what they want to do for photos and let all their cheekiness shine through.
Mel had no grand plans for their photos at home, they know one day they will renovate, so she just wanted to capture the cosiness and fun of life there right now – the laughter, the chaos, this perfectly imperfect chapter.
