Embracing Imperfection: the Talic family photos at home

It hasn't been that long in between family photos for my crew, but with a new house and our brand-new puppy "Chaos", we felt like we needed to capture this chapter. The truth is, I've been avoiding taking photos at this new place. There are so many unfinished projects that aren't photogenic – the garden isn't done, the fence is a work-in-progress, the list goes on. But if we put family photos off until those things were done, it could be six months and suddenly, life looks different again.

I always tell my clients you don't need to have a Home Beautiful-style house to capture meaningful family photos at home. So, I took my own advice and embraced the imperfections. We kept the fun contained to the yard, playing with the new puppy, jumping on the trampoline and riding scooters in the driveway. Photos outside are also a great way to include all of your furry and feathered friends.

If you're an overthinking perfectionist (guilty 🙋‍♀️) and the thought of having family photos at home is overwhelming, doing photos in the yard is a great way to make sure everyone is relaxed and having fun without having to make sure the house looks like a spread in a magazine.

Welcome to the family, Chaos. We have a feeling you'll fit right in.
